We live in a digital age. No one wants to go through an actual Encyclopedia to look up data. Most people have access to the internet that is lighter, quicker, and up to date on current events. Some would argue that content may be false, yet in my honest opinion Wikipedia is about 99 % true. They are very adamant on keeping data legit.
When I was young, my grade school teacher told me to look up words in the dictionary rather then her just telling me. So I did and ended up learning new words out of curiosity. Wikipedia is the exact same but is much more easier, cleaner, neater, has images, up to date, and is mostly legitimate.
Librarians are trying to scare students from using Wikipedia, when in fact it is the single greatest learning tool in the world.
I also agree that Wikipedia is very accurate. There are so many people viewing the pages on Wikipedia that if an error is found then it will be corrected quickly. Also people will build on other people's ideas. I think a reason why people try to scare students from using Wikipedia is because they want the students to be able to do the research themselves instead of just using the information that they find on Wikipedia which contains most about what you need to know about the topic. The information might not be 100% accurate also.
